OneBiteBetter Guest Blog: Meet Tavierney, BU Nutrition Grad Student

Hello Everybody!!

My name is Tavierney Rogan. I am a second year Masters of Nutrition student at Boston University. I am completing my Master’s and Dietetic Internship with BU so that I can become a Registered Dietitian. This semester I have the privilege of completing my practicum with Tara at the Lown Cardiovascular Center.

I am an athlete, sports fanatic and a lover of food. More specifically I like using food to improve my own athletic ability and hope to one day work with athletes to help them improve their game with nutrition. I have to giving fair warning though, I am from Chicago and therefore I am a diehard Chicago sports fan. However, I have love and respect for Boston teams too!

A little more about me: I played competitive fastpitch softball for 10 years, danced until I was 18, completed 3-1/2 marathons, and love creating a stronger body and testing my limits by lifting weights. Sprinkle in some yoga, Pilates, hiking, and pretty much any organized sport and that pretty much describes my love of being active! I am passionate about all around health including mind, body, and spirit.

For the next couple of months, I will contributing to “The Plate Coach” with some of my own sports and nutrition experiences (this Spring I will be training for a Tough Mudder Race in May….running, climbing walls, electro-shock, running through fire…sure, sounds like fun).

I will also be writing about various interesting nutrition topics I see in the news, the mass media, and the nutrition world.

I look forward to communicating some great nutrition information and sharing my own success and obstacles in health!
